Ten nights. Two minds. One Conversation

A series of wide-ranging conversations about time, memory, stories, chance, dreams, and the patterns that shape our lives. Part philosophical journey, intellectual adventure, and thought experiment, Late Night invites readers into a wild exploration where ideas collide and assumptions are challenged.

It’s late at night, and you’ve had a glass or two of something stronger than water. You’re sitting with a good friend, and one of you asks a question. Before you know it, a deep philosophical conversation is underway — perhaps you debate if time-travel is possible, or whether the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park might ever be truly created, or a more personal topic like how to live a fulfilling life, or what it means to be happy.

That stopped me. Was I asking entirely the wrong question? It wouldn’t be the first time I’d barked up the wrong tree.

“Is there any evidence we’ve discovered time-travel?” I said.

“No.”

That was disappointing.

VerySmart said, “You weren’t expecting me to say yes?”

“You did kind of lead me down that path.”

“The assumptions were entirely yours,” VerySmart replied.
